Manila Welcome Industrial Corporation is a handicraft export company established in January 1989. The Company was first located at Dona Felisa Syjuco Building with just an office and a showroom. At that time they only have four people running the business namely; a merchandiser, a secretary, a driver and the general manager.

Since the company have no warehouse to speak of; most of our deliveries go straight to the showroom. After this humble experience, they then partly shared a warehouse together with another company. After this warehouse sharing, the company decided to rent a warehouse of its own in Pasay City in late 1989.

It's All About Basket

6:22 PM |
handicrafts

The company started out in 1986 as a basket manufacturer supplying various handicraft products to various Philippine exporters. From humble beginnings as a home-based business, the products manufactured then were baskets mostly of rattan and wicker. As the company gained more experience over time, the product line expanded into home decoration and home storage baskets making use of a variety of organic renewable materials. Our baskets are delicately handcrafted by the fine hands of Filipino craftsmen.

In 1994, the company finally decided to export directly and started sending its handmade products to the Americas, Europe, and all over Asia.

Today, the company is now known as a reliable source of houseware baskets especially for the kitchen and for storage baskets. All our products are still handmade using various natural materials including abaca, buri, hyacinth, wicker, among others. We are known for producing affordable Houseware, Caddies, Storage, Hampers and prepack assortments .

The company, due to popular demand, has also started serving the local market with its growing taste for high-quality, handmade baskets. We sell to both institutional customers and directly to consumers through various retail events. Please see our "News" page for more details.

The Milling of Crafts

Philippine Handicraft

Established in July 23, 1987, Craft Mill, Inc. is a multi-awarded, Filipino-owned manufacturing firm that takes pride in its environment-friendly creations, its clean, consistent workmanship, & its distinct style that has managed to stay abreast of trends, while still retaining the original character that sets Craft Mill apart from other handicraft producers & exporters also using paper, fabric, leather & natural materials that are indigenous to the Philippines.

Aside from being a viable business, Craft Mill has embraced as part of its mission to teach skills to the unemployed members of marginalized communities near its factory, including home-crafts that could help idle housewives be productive and earn a living. It is probably one of the few handicraft companies with the capability of training and developing groups of subcontractors in their own factory, before establishing their separate, independent workshop.

Craft Mill has also assumed the task of sharing its sophistication in design and concept with weavers around the archipelago, with the goal of elevating their level of quality, and teaching them consistency and an improved "sense of deadlines".

Mayat-an Handicrafts

6:51 PM |

Mayat-an Handicrafts derives its trade name from an ancient Ifugao family name. It is at once a statement of the firm?s mission to preserve the traditional ethnic designs and artisanic skills inherent in the lifestyles of the Ifugao people of the Cordilleras.

Mayat-an's first product was a Binga basket which became an instant hit with buyers when it was first introduced to the market. It seemed that consumers were ready and searching for unique products that also express the lifestyles of ancient cultures while adapted to modern functional uses. The market was going for nature products consistent with public concern for environmental preservation.

The base raw materials used for the bags are rattan and a species of wild bamboo called anes, known among the natives for its resistance to decay and pest attacks. These are sourced from the thick forests of Sablan, Benguet.

Metal gauze

Metal gauze continues to be a key attention to MCCA's collection, employed as mirror frames.

WGSN noted a move to a leaf-vein pattern, that gives an organic feel to the collection.

Minimalistic and, at times, an optical illusion, the effect was created by hand using wrought iron.

The company received the Katha Award 09 Secretary's Award for Design Excellence.

Paper made from durian rinds offers tender filament and better quality than mulberry-pulp paper. Durian rinds may be blended with fruit or vegetable fibers to produce different kinds of paper.

Designs can be made by adding rose petals or leaves soon after sieving, but before drying it in the sunshine. Beautiful designs depend on the maker’s skills. PB -055 Seahorse

7:47 PM |

Wagas Crafts was formally organized in the Philippines last 1998 as Sole Proprietorship to engage in the business of manufacturing, retailing and wholesaling of wooden handicrafts. At first, the company exclusively developed the WOODEN COLLAPSIBLE BASKETS, and later popularly known as "Magic Baskets" all over the world. Then, another product line was developed and described as the WOODEN FLYING MOBILES, and commonly known as "Magic Mobiles".

Basically, its strategy was to capture the domestic market by joining crafts fairs and bazaars, and consequently, establish and operate outlets in strategic areas like big malls all over the Philippines. Its guiding philosophy was to "consume first its own production, and the rest to the export market".

Currently, the company is maintaining nine (9) retail outlets all over country. The basic identity of its products is principally handcrafted and hand painted. Even with the advent of the modern technology, it has maintained the distinct touch derivative from the expressions of handmade products.

The company is operating a factory manned by gifted-skilled workers capable of producing a container load of its products every month. It is catering export orders to the United States of America, Asia, Canada, France, and other parts of the globe.

In the year 2003, the company has introduced a new concept of Collapsible Baskets described as "HANDY BASKETS ". It has introduced an "anti-tilt locking system" and "huge basket capacity" with uniform size of 18mm X 400mm X 400mm for all its selected designs. The main purpose of its new concept is to create a perfect functional decor. For simplicity and convenience, it has adopted a "one size, one price" policy.
