  • Handbound Leather Journal Description: 240 pages back-to-back, ivory-colored, acid-free paper; Binding: Long Stitch; Cover: genuine leather

Alunsina Handbound Books are unique from other bookstores’ journals and sketchbooks. Books are carefully made and invested with our personal time and energy. In fact, each book takes four to eight hours a day to complete. All these on a price that is comparable and sometimes even cheaper than commercially sold journals typically manufactured in an assembly line.

Coptic-bound books are different from other handbound books because it showcases locally made (mostly Filipino and some Asian) and indigenous fabric. So far, it have been using batik, ‘Centennial’ fabric, and habi from Cotabato in Southern Philippines. They also have a limited collection of fabric from India and hand-woven fabric from Burma. They are also in the process of expanding by sourcing more local indigenous textile and those from neighboring countries. Watch out for new indigenous fabrics in their collection soon such as the Yakan hand-woven textile and T’nalak of the T’boli.

Alunsina Handbound Books are distinct because the products themselves are ‘works of art’ that do not only serve as testimony or medium to chronicle thoughts and experiences, but the journals themselves inspire its owners to pick them up and use them, write some random thought, compose poetry or practice calligraphy, or for the ‘artists’ in all of us to open up a sketchbook and draw.”
